Mysore, Mar. 31- The NSS Unit of JSS College of Nursing, Mysore, in collaboration with Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), Bangalore, conducted a two-day workshop on 'Community Development Programme' for NSS Officers of NSS Units affiliated to RGUHS at JSS Institutions premises in Suttur.
The purpose of the workshop was to motivate and help NSS officers to enhance their knowledge and skills in organising and implementing community development programmes. Totally 117 delegates represented colleges throughout Karnataka.
The workshop was inaugurated on Mar. 19 by the chief guest Dr. S. Ramananda Shetty, Vice-Chancellor, RGUHS. Padmasri Mahadevappa, Director, Rural Development, JSS Mahavidyapeetha, Mysore and former VC of UAS, Dharwad; Jeetender Singh Shekhawat, NSS Programme Officer and Remya, Prog. Co-officer were present.
In his address, Dr. Ramananda Shetty stressed the role of NSS and NSS officers in the current scenario and discussed the programmes specially designed to serve rural community by the Rajiv Gandhi University.
He also lauded the efforts of NSS Unit of JSS College of Nursing for its wide range of activities throughout the year serving rural and urban communities.
On the occasion, he was felicitated on behalf of JSS Mahavidyapeetha and JSS College of Nursing for his contribution in the field of health sciences by Mahadevappa.
The two-day workshop had renowned experts — Mahadevappa; Dr. Arun Balamathi, Programme Co-ordinator, JSSKVK, Suttur; Shadakshari, Managing Director, Ramanashree Group of Hotels, Bangalore; Revanna, Professor, Bharthi Degree College, Mandya and Capt. Krishnaprasad, Retd. Engineer — speak on various issues related to community development. At the end, 'Ongoing development programmes at Suttur under the auspices of JSS Mahavidyapeetha' was presented by Tripurantaka.
Participants were overwhelmed with the rejuvenating holy atmosphere of Srikshetra Suttur. Early morning exercising, brisk walk, yoga, creative games and Suttur darshana were the key events of the workshop. At the end, participants were asked to evaluate the workshop activities.
At the valedictory, the participants expressed their views regarding the workshop. A report was presented by Dr. Muninarayanappa. Dr. Vasanth Kumar was all appreciation for the NSS Unit for organising the workshop effectively. B.N. Betkerur, Executive Secretary, JSS MVP, who presided over the ceremony, felicitated Dr. S. Vasanth Kumar for his contribution to RGUHS.
