“A limited consumption of wine is always good for health” opined Dr. D. Maheshwaran, Horticulture Director.
He was speaking after visiting the Wine Mela organised jointly by Karnataka Wine Board and Horticulture Department at the Horticulture office on B.N. Road here yesterday and launching the traditional process of making wine.
Maheshwaran said that wine has medicinal value and should not be viewed as just alcohol consumption. He added that a limited consumption of wine is useful to prevent heart ailments and good to relieve stress.
Speaking on the occasion, Cardiologist Dr. S.P. Yoganna said that wine is rich in potassium and sodium, the micro elements needed for the body.
Wine Board Managing Director Dr. B. Krishna, AYUSH District Officer Dr. Nagesh, Horticulture Dy. Director H.M. Nagaraj, Information Department Dy. Director A.R. Prakash and others were present.
The heritage red wine is found in great demand with a boost in sales. However, a section of the crowd alleged that a certain stall in the Mela was charging more than the stipulated price.
