Mysore, Oct. 18 (KK&KMC)- Special puja was performed to the royal armoury in the Palace with full traditional fervour and grandeur, on the occasion of Ayudha Puja on Saturday.

The royal armoury placed in a golden chariot, was offered guard of honour by the District Armed Reserve Police to the accompaniment of mangalavadya and later taken out in a process-ion along with the Pattade Kudure (royal horse) and the royal cow round the Palace premises.

Members of the royal family and others offered their salutations to the royal arms. The procession of the arms-laden chariot then returned to the Palace. Traditional rituals were performed after 10.30 am by scion of the royal family Srikanta Datta Narasimharaja Wadiyar for more than an hour at the Ayudha Puja Mantapa at the Palace Kalyana Mantapa.

This was followed by a Chandi Homa, as per the directions of the royal priest.

Special pujas were offered to the royal horse, the royal elephant, royal cow and calf, royal canopy, royal emblem, royal seal, swords, guns and other articles belonging to the royalty, accompanied by the royal band, mangalavadya and manthra ghosha.

Hundreds of special invitees, dignitaries and others witnessed the elaborate rituals of a royal Ayudha Puja that has a centuries-old history.
