Out of the 9 Kannada Study Peethas outside the State, 6 of them are on the verge of closure. It has been decided to retain them by overcoming the economic problem, scarcity of students and lecturers, he said.
Each student studying in these Peethas is being paid a monthly scholarship of Rs. 2,000 for ten months. A total of 80 boy and girl students are studying Kannada in these Peethas at present, he added.
The matter with regard to reservation of seats in all courses for those who have studied in Kannada medium has been discussed with the government.
