Mysore, Feb. 24- Karnataka Urdu Academy and Anjuman-e-Handeeqathul Adab had jointly organised an All India Urdu Poets Meet (Mushaira) on Sunday at St Mathias School Auditorium.

The audience started to assemble at 8.30 pm itself as after many years such a Mushaira was held in Mysore.

The Mushaira began with the recitation of verses from Holy Quran by Hazrath Moulana Mohamed Rahim Ulla. Famous Urdu poet from Burhanpur Nayeem Rashid presented a naath. Secretary of Anjuman-e-Hadeeqathul Adab Syed Shafi Ahmed presented a detailed report about the aims and objectives of Anjuman.

On the cccasion, Khaleel Mamoon, Chairman, Karnataka Urdu Academy, felicitated Dr. Javeed Nayeem, President of Anjuman and Afsar Pasha for their services for the promotion of Urdu language.

Later Dr. Javeed Nayeem felicitated Chandrabhan Khayal, Vice- President, National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language, Khaleel Mamoon, Chairman, Karnataka Urdu Academy and the anchor of the Mushaira and famous Urdu Poet Shafeeq Abidi.

Following are the poets who recited poems during the Mushaira:

Dr. Irfan Riyazi, Dr. Meh jabeen Najm, Gowhar Tarikervi, Ikram Kavish, Razzaq Afsar, Syed Ahmed Rahil and Khaleel Bebak and Barkath Ali Khan Aansu (all from Mysore).

Sabih Hyder, Sakhi Sarmast, Sardar Ayagh, Sulaiman Khumar, Nasir Ali Puri, Shaistha Yousuff, Shafeeq Abidi, Agha Sarosh, Nayeem Rashid, Azm Shakiri, Anjum Barabankvi, Afzal Manga-lori (Uttar Pradesh), Shuaib Mirza, Anjum Badayuni, Khalid Zahid, Haq Kanpuri and Dr. Khalid.

Chandrabhan Khayal, in his presidential address said that Urdu language always played the role to connect the hearts and to sp-read communal harmony. Urdu is a language of love and spreads the message of brotherhood.

Prof. S. Mohamed Rahmath Ulla, Registrar, Karnataka Urdu Academy, Prof. Riaz Ahmed, President, Rifahul Muslimeen Education Trust, Mir Hymayun, President, Muslim Co-Operative Bank, Syed Zaheer Ahmed, General Secretary, Central Muslim Welfare Council, Dr. M. Sayeed Ahmed, Hon. Secretary, Farooqia Pre University College, Dr. Syed Shakeeb Ur Rahman, Dean, Vishweshwariah Technoligical University and others were present.

A two minute silence was observed to pay tribute to famous Poet and Typograph expert Iqbal Fareed who passed away last week and was supposed to recite his poem in this Mushaira.
