Thousands of devotees visited the Srikanteshwara Swamy temple here today on the occasion of Chikka Jathre at Nanjangud. Three colourfully bedecked chariots bearing the idols were taken in a procession, pulled by the devotees.
The Theppotsava will be held on the banks of Kapila river in the night of Nov. 21, followed by Nandi Mahotsava at the temple premises on Nov. 23.
Makeshift sheds with changing rooms were erected on the banks of river Kapila for the convenience of devotees, by the Tourism Department, apart from other amenities.
The preparations for the occasion were supervised by the Temple’s Executive Officer H.N. Shivalingegowda. Temple Chief Priest Nagendra Dixit, Neelakanta Dixit, Srikanta Jois and others were present.
