Mysore, Aug. 6 (KK&DM) Kannada and Culture Department Secretary B.R. Jayaramaje Urs today called upon CAVA students to design the most ideal building for CAVA’s new campus at German Press premises in Siddarthanagar.

Responding to the suggestion, the students and teachers promised to prepare the best design.

Jayaramaje Urs was presiding over the inaugural function of Kunchakavya Samskrithika Samithi at CAVA on Sayyaji Rao Road in the city this morning.

He said the Department has released Rs. 1 crore for CAVA’s new building and that it was prepared to release more funds. The students should come up with an innovative design for new building that would be a model for other art institutes.

Jayaramaje Urs regretted that everything is getting commercialised these days and conservation of art works and memorials are being sidelined. The students should take up the responsibility of conservation, he said.

Corruption


The evil of corruption had hampered the country’s development. The youth should fight corruption and drive it out completely, he added.

Earlier, M.H. Krishnaiah, Chairman, Kannada Sahitya Akademi, inaugurated the Samithi by lighting the lamp.

Speaking on the occasion, Krishnaiah said art is undergoing transformation at a rapid pace, taking up new forms.

Stating that the Institute is being shifted to a new premises, he said it is necessary to preserve CAVA’s heritage and tradition.

CAVA Dean V.A. Deshpande and Samithi Secretary Muthuraj were present.

Artist N. Marishamachar, winner of K.K. Hebbar award, was feted on the occasion.

An exhibition of CAVA students paintings and art works was displayed on the occasion.
