Mysore, June 13 (DM)- The Department of Kannada Studies and Research, Karnataka State Open University (KSOU), has organised a two-day State-level Workshop on "Medieval Kannada Poetry and Classical Works: Reading and Analysis," on June 22 and 23 at KSOU premises in Manasagangotri here.

The workshop has been organised targeting Kannada lecturers serving at KSOU study centres and in degree colleges.

The workshop will deliberate on the poetry and works written by medieval Kannada writers and poets — Harihara, Raghavanka, Kumaravyasa, Lakshmeesha, Kanakadasa, Nanjunda, Sanchiya Honnamma, Keshiraja, Eshwara, Salwa, Nijaguna Shivayogi, Gulur Siddaveerannodeya.

Veteran scholar and researcher Dr. M. Chidanandamurthy will inaugurate the workshop at 10 am on June 22. KSOU VC Prof. K.S. Rangappa will preside.

A total of 12 scholars — Prof. G.S. Siddalingaiah, Prof. K.R. Nagaraj, Prof. C. Veeranna, Prof. Srikanta Kudige, Prof. Vidyashankar, Prof. K. Anantaramu, Prof. Shivaji Jois, Prof. V.G. Poojar, Prof. M.G. Manjunath, Prof. K.R. Durgadas, Prof. Sabeeha Bhumigowda and Prof. Padmasekhar — will take part in six seminars.

Former Kannada University Vice-Chancellor Prof. H.J. Lakkappa Gowda will deliver the valedictory address at 4 pm on June 23.

Entry is restricted to 100 participants and preference will be given to early applicants. Interested lecturers, literary enthusiasts, research students and students can registration by remitting Rs. 100 before June 17.
