The SSLC examination, which commenced throughout the State today, will end on Apr. 10.

In the district, 43,542 students including 3,515 repeaters are writing the examination. Among freshers, 20,152 are boys and 19,875 are girls. There are 149 examination centres in the district including 57 in city, according to DDPI B.K. Basavaraj.

The examination will be held daily from 9.30 am to 12.45 pm beginning with first language paper today followed by Science on Apr. 3, English on Apr. 5, Mathematics on Apr. 8, Hindi on Apr. 9 and Social Science on Apr. 10.

To ensure transparency and prevent malpractice, six vigilance squads have been constituted at district-level, three for each taluk and an inter-district squad with 9 members. Prohibitory orders under Section 144 has been imposed in a radius of 200 metres around each examination centre. All xerox shops in the vicinity of the centres have been asked to close during the examination hours, according to DDPI Basavaraj.

For the benefit of students, direction boards have been placed at all centres indicating the location of the rooms and the corresponding roll numbers. Going further, potable packaged drinking water was seen in every room with summer being severe and fear of epidemics looming large everywhere. For meeting any eventuality, 108 ambulances have been kept ready.

DDPI Basavaraj told Star of Mysore that the Deputy Commissioner, BEOs and other officials were making visits to centres at random.
