Sri Nirmalanandanatha Swamiji, the newly-anointed 72nd Seer of Adichunchanagiri Mahasamsthana in Mandya district, will be arriving here tomorrow. He is also scheduled to inaugurate South India’s Kumbha Mela, a three-day fest at T. Narasipur, the confluence of Cauvery, Kabini and mythical Spatika Sarovar.

This pilgrim centre yesterday was a beehive of activities with workers constructing makeshift steps, removing algae, constructing temporary wash basins, installing drinking water taps and rest rooms for devotees, construction of barricades and watch towers, cleaning of temple walls and building temporary shelters for religious leaders and seers to reside in the vicinity of Agastheshwara and Gunjanarasimhaswamy temples in the town.

Meanwhile, DC Dr. Ramegowda, addressing media persons after inspecting the spot and holding a meeting of officials at Adichunchanagiri Community Hall, said that videographing and photographing around the bathing ghat had been banned for three days. He added that CCTV cameras had been installed to monitor the proceedings while thousands of devotees throng the centre.

Dr. Ramegowda also said that the officials of the PWD and CESC have been instructed to provide non-stop supply of water and power and added that generators would be deployed in case of need besides setting up of two health centres.

Stating that expert swimmers will be available in the bathing ghat to save people from drowning, he added that temporary bus stations manned by NCC cadets will be operated for the benefit of devotees.

SP R. Dileep said the District Administration was taking steps to avoid any stampede and urged the devotees to co-operate with the Police department in its endeavour to ensure smooth conduct of the three-day fest.
