During the rituals which began on Tuesday evening, various pujas like Ganesha puja, Sri Ganapathi Durga Homa, puja to Chandramouleshwara, Sri Sambambika Devi, Sthambambika Devi and Kalabhairava were offered. Yesterday morning, the Seer was showered with holy water from seven sacred rivers at Balagangadaranatha Swamiji Sabha Bhavan.

Following the rituals, the new Seer, seated on a throne, conducted a private durbar and delivered an ashirvachana to devotees who thronged the piligrim centre in their thousands.

The rituals were supervised by Sri Prasannanatha Swamiji who guided Veda Brahma Sabhesh Gurukkal and team. President of Natha tradition Goraknath Swamiji, Pejawar Seer Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji, Taralabalu Mutt’s Sri Shivamurthy Shivacharya Swamiji, Sri Dr. Thontada Siddalinga Swamiji, seers of all branches of Adichunchanagiri Mutt and other dignitaries were present.

It may be recalled that the Mutt Seer Dr. Balagangadaranatha Swamiji passed away on Jan. 13 at BGS Apollo Hospital in Bangalore.

Profile: Born to Narasaiah -Nanjamma couple in Chiranahalli of Gubbi taluk, Nagaraju (earlier name of the Swamiji) has a brother and two sisters.

The Swamiji is an alumnus of (BE in Civil Engineering) Mysore’s NIE. He then completed his M.Tech at Indian Institute of Technology in Chennai before being selected for research work at Govt. Research Institute in Pune. Later, he completed MA in Advaitha and Vedantha at Sanskrit Vedagama Mahavidyalaya at Adichunchanagiri Mutt.
