Srian Envisions, the city-based neuro-rehabilitation centre, is conducting a day-long interactive session for cancer patients and general public on Sunday, Mar.3 at Jaganmohan Palace auditorium in city in two sessions (9.30 am to 11.30 am, 5 pm to 8.30 pm).
The programme is theme-based, focusing on medical and musical facets, with special emphasis on neurological and financial planning aspects. It will be conducted under the aegis of Dr. Anil Sangli, Consultant Neuro & Spine Surgeon and Sripad Sangli, Financial Planner.
Medical experts from the field of Oncology will emphasise on issues related to cancer. Dr. M.S. Vishweshwara, Radiation Oncologist & Medical Superintendent and Dr. K. Ganesh Rao, Surgical Oncologist, both from Bharath Hospital and Institute of Oncology, Mysore, will speak on chemotherapy, radiotherapy and surgery in cancer patients.
Dr. Anil Sangli will speak on ‘Brain cancer and its symptoms.’ Dr. B.R. Pai, CMD of VWF Group of Industries and Wellness Expert, who will be the chief guest, will speak on ‘Wellness aspects in cancer.’ Prof. Shivaramu Kadanakuppe, Prinicipal, Vidyavardhaka First Grade College and a well-known writer, will be the guest of honour and speak on ‘Overcoming stress in cancer patients.’
The highlight of the morning session is ‘Yoga and music for cancer patients’ which consists of yogic postural demonstrations and interactive musical rendition for cancer patients and their care-takers.
A 40-minute yoga demonstration will be conducted under the guidance of Dr. K. Raghavendra Pai of Vedavyasa Yoga Foundation and a 20-minute special musical session by Veena S. Pandit, vocalist and playback singer.
Patients suffering from cancer, persons who are care-takers of such cancer patients and members of the general public can participate in this session. There is no entry fee. Later, patients can interact with the experts.
In the evening session, Dr. B.S. Ajai Kumar, Chairman, Bharath Hospital, will be the chief guest. Krishna Vattam, Senior Journalist, Ravindra Bhat of Prajavani, D.N. Lokappa of Samvahana Prakashana and Dr. C.B. Murthy of B.M. Hospital, will be the guests of honour.
Vattam, a cancer survivor, is doing yeoman service to spread awareness among the general public about the preventive aspects in cancer and cancer management. He has authored a book on his victory over cancer in English, which is due for publication. The Kannada version of the book ‘Cancer Gedda Santasa,’ translated by Dr. Anil Sangli and Sripad Sangli, will be released on the occasion by Dr. Ajai Kumar. Dr. C.B. Murthy will be the recipient of the first copy of the book.
Dr. Anil Sangli, Sripad Sangli, Amogh Kashyap, Veena Pandit, Shantala Vattam and S. Gayathri will enthral the audience with a mixture of musical melodies which include traditional, classical, ghazals and film songs of yesteryears, both Kannada and Hindi, all based on Raag Yaman.
Shantala Vattam will also present a special event ‘Dance for relaxation.’ G. Rajalakshmi Sridhar, Programme Executive and Programme Head, AIR Hassan, will compere.
