Satish (27), a soldier from Alambadi village in K.R.Pet taluk, Mandya district, was among five CRPF personnel who lost their lives in the terror attack on a CRPF camp that rocked the Jammu & Kashmir capital yesterday.
Satish, son of late Narayana Shetty and Savithramma couple of K.R.Pet, was serving in the CRPF from 2007 after completing his ITI course.
Incidentally, his brother Harish is also serving in the CRPF.
Proud mother: His mother Savithramma said “after losing my husband, I struggled to raise them but was happy when they decided to serve the nation. Today I am proud that my son Satish has sacrificed his life for the country.”
It is reported that the terrorists detonated explosives kept in a cricket kit besides lobbing grenades at an area around Police Public School in which seven other CRPF personnel were injured. Luckily, children escaped their wrath as they were playing outside the school during the 20-minute-long terror attack.
State funeral: The body of the slain 27-year-old CRPF Jawan Satish, which is likely to be brought to his native village Alambadi, 19 kilometers from K.R. Pet, later today, will be cremated with full State honours.
Grief descends: Meanwhile, the entire village of Alambadi plunged into grief as the news of Satish’s death spread like wildfire. It is also said that Satish had come to the village two months ago when his father Narayana Shetty had passed away.
Condoled: MLA K.B.Chandrashekar, former Speaker Krishna, ex-MLA B.Prakash, JD(S) leaders K.C.Narayana Gowda, B.L.Devaraju, R.Venkata Subbegowda, former ZP member Gowramma Srinivas, former PLD Bank President Akki Hebbal Raghu have expressed grief at the death of Satish.
