Angry residents of Siddarthanagar led by corporator Mahadevamma and former corporator Prakash Raje Urs yesterday gheraoed an inspector of Vani Vilas Water Works (VVWW), took him to task and locked the main door of the water pumping station of VVWW near hotel Lalitha Mahal Palace protesting over erratic supply of drinking water.
It is reported that when the inspector failed to come out with a satisfactory reply, the residents preferred to lock the main door of the pumping station for sometime.
Meanwhile, Corporator Mahadevamma contacted the Executive Engineer of VVWW Subramanya to apprise him of the issue again while some residents of the locality said that parts of the area was receiving water, it was vice-versa in other parts.
Residents of Vinaya Marga complained that they had not received water for the past four days which forced them to rely on water stored in the sump.
Subramanya, said that a leakage in the main pipe at Rammanahalli had effected the supply of drinking water and added that the snag was noticed a few days ago and works on plugging the leakage had been undertaken from Monday. He also expressed confidence that the supply of drinking water would be restored soon.
Some residents felt that if the repair works had not been initiated at the right time, the situation would have aggravated.
