It was a perfect start for this year’s Yuva Dasara. As expected, the youth assembled at the Maharaja College grounds for the inaugural day enjoyed every moment of nearly three hours of entertainment offered to them by popular Bollywood playback singer Shaan.

This being Shaan's second appearance at Yuva Dasara, he began with Duniya Mein... the title song from the movie Don which featured Shah Rukh Khan. As he came on the stage, the entire crowd cheered and welcomed him with a thumping claps and whistles. Shaan, who is known for his melodious voice, greeted the audience by saying ‘Yuva Dasara Ge Swagatha’ in Kannada and also did some of Shah Rukh Khan’s signature steps while singing song from the movie Don.

Once he sang Yeno Onthara... from the movie Hudugata which featured Golden Star Ganesh, the crowd erupted from their seats and started to sing along with songs. He also sang Dil Ka Ye Kya Raaz Hein.. from Body Guard, Jab Se Tere Nehna.. from Saawariya, Tu Ne Mujhe Pehechana Nahin... from Raju Chacha, Wo Pehli Baar... from Pyaar Mein Kabhi Kabhi, Dil Ne Tumko... from Jhankar Beats, Main Aisa Kyun Hoon... from Lakshya, Welcome... from the movie Welcome, Hum Dum Soniyore... from Saathiya, Hum Tere Bin... from the movie Aashiqui 2 originally sung by Arjith Singh.

Shaan also sang Bathameez Dil...from Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani which is originally sung by Benny Dayal and songs from Dil Chahata Hai, Munna Bhai MBBS, 3 Idiots, Om Shanti Om and the famous Chand Shifarish... from the movie Fanaa.

He also the sang his famous song Tanha Dil... which fetched him the best solo album during the MTV Asia Music Awards. Shaan signed off with Summer of 69.

The entire programme which ran up to more than two hours was filled with entertainment and fun. The youth present at the venue were dancing and cheering throughout. Tosha Sarkar, the co-singer, who had accompanied Shaan for the concert, also sang a couple of solo songs which included Sunn Raha Haina... from Aashiqui2, Main Pareshaan... from Ishaqzaade and Radha teri chunari... from Student of the Year.

Prior to Shaan’s concert, audience were entertained by the performance of Alok Jain, a specially-abled, who has been entertaining people through dance. A dance by K.C. Pusphalatha and troupe was entertaining so was the performance by children of Blind School which received appreciation from many. But the students of the Government First Grade College were disappointed as their performance was stopped midway to begin Shaan’s concert.

Over all the first day of Yuva Dasara ended on a high note. Moreover with Sunidhi Chauhan scheduled to perform today, the youth are sure to have much more entertainment.
