Mysore, Mar. 20 (KVV&MTY)- A State-level seminar on Web Journalism was organised at the junior BA Hall of Maharaja's College on JLB Road here today, under the joint auspices of UGC and Karnataka Media Academy.

Prof. V.G. Talwar, Vice-Chancellor of Mysore University, inaugurated the seminar which was presided over by Prof. S.N. Gayathri, Principal of Maharaja's College. Karnataka Media Academy Chairman D.P. Parameshwara delivered the keynote address. Administrator of Maharaja's College Prof. Latha K. Biddappa and Head of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Dr. Prameela Kunnur were present.

In his keynote address, Parameshwara said that print media has created a record in attracting the readers by overtaking other forms of mass media.

Journalist Rajashekhara Koti, who was the chief guest, said that curiosity was very important for students of journalism. He said that through hard work and deep study, journalists could achieve excellence in their field. He said students of journalism should have sound general knowledge and there should be a burning desire in them to learn more.

He released the book 'Future writing concept and Practice' written by Dr. Prameela Kunnur.

Prof. Talwar said that though 'Web Journalism' was started in 1998, it came to limelight only in 2008. Prof. Talawar released the Anikethana newspaper brought out by the students of Journalism of Maharaja's College.

Retired Head of the Department of Journalism, Maharaja's College R.N. Padmanabha was felicitated on the occasion.
