Several security measures have been taken up at the residence of Chief Minister Siddharamaiah in Ramakrishna Nagar here, said DCP (Law and Order) Basavaraj Y. Malagatti, who re-assumed charge yesterday.

"According to the Police Blue Book for law enforcement, the Chief Minister is a VVIP and hence, it is mandatory to provide security round-the-clock," said the DCP and added that the house will be under CCTV surveillance 24x7, work on which has already begun.

A Door Frame Metal Detector has also been installed at the entrance of the house and two Police personnel have been deputed, along with a KSRP platoon and fire-brigade vehicle.

An ambulance as stand-by and sniffer-dog squad will also be provided whenever Siddharamaiah is in city, said Malagatti.

Malagatti said that though there are provisions for security cover at the Government Guest House in Nazarbad, Siddharamaiah prefers to stay in his Ramakrishna Nagar residence and hence, the additional security.
