Miscreants burgle leased house in K.C.Layout

In a diabolical act, miscreants yesterday robbed jewellery worth Rs. 50 lakh after breaking open an almirah kept at a newly leased house of a stone crusher businessman in K.C.Layout in city.

It is reported that businessman Venkatesh who was earlier residing in a rented house on 3rd cross, had recently taken a house on lease near his old residence and was shifting household articles to the new house.

Meanwhile, miscreants who were closely watching the developments, yesterday afternoon broke open the doors of the leased house and force opened the almirah kept inside and decamped with gold bangles, chains, rings, bracelet etc., weighing about a kilogram and a half worth Rs. 50 lakh while the owner had gone for lunch.

The incident came to light when Venkatesh and family returned home after having lunch in their old house. They immediately informed Nazarbad Police following which Inspector Mohan and team rushed to the spot.

Finger Print division ACP M.B.Somesh, SI Appaji Gowda pressed sniffer dogs into service before conducting mahazar.

DCP Basavaraj Malagatti, ACP Shashikumar and others visited the house and registered a case.

Anxiety: Meanwhile, uneasy calm prevailed in the area as anxious residents expressed anguish over the incident and expressed concern that weeds grown in vacant sites in the area provided a safe haven for miscreants. They also urged Police officials to provide security.
