Mysore, Feb. 3 (KCU&RK)- The utilisation of the Rs. 1.17-crore loan given by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in 2003 for the renovation of the Karanji lake nature park was under scrutiny of the 8-member ADB team currently in the city.

The team went around the aviary, the botanical gardens, the butterfly park and the watch-tower built for bird watchers, all built or developed from the ADB funds.

The team was accompanied by Zoo Executive Director Vijay Ranjan Singh, Zoo Authority Member-Secretary M.N. Jayakumar, Deputy Director Bellia-ppa, MUDA Commissioner P.C. Jayanna and Corporation Commissioner K.S. Raikar.

The Karanji lake has a huge diversity of butterfly species apart from birds like Crested Moorhens, Grebes, Herons as well as Spotted Owlets and Fishing Kites.
