A biographical book Sugandhavarthi Rangarayaru on late N. Ranga Rao, founder of the well-known Agarbathi (incense sticks) manufacturing company of our City, N. Ranga Rao & Sons, known for their Vasu and Cycle brand agarbathis, was released here yesterday at the Rangarao Memorial School for the Disabled on KRS Road by litterateur Dr. T.V. Venkatachala Shastry.
The 321-page book is a collection of articles by late Ranga Rao's children, friends and those who knew him intimately. It is also full of pictures of his children and his family members. The title Sugandhavarthi Rangarayaru, it was disclosed by N. Ranga Rao's eldest son R. Guru in his introductory speech, was given by Dr. Venkatachala Sha-stry, who also edited the book.
R.N. Murthy, another son of Ranga Rao, who had taken the initiatve to publish the biographical book, spoke about the challenges and joys of bringing out this book by getting others to write about their memories of his late father.
H. Subba Rao, another big name of those days in the Agarbathi business, of Aravinda Parimala Works, spoke about his early years of contact with Ranga Rao.
Ramachandra Rao, an old employee, who had worked for Ranga Rao for over 45 years and now retired, recalled his association with the company and said that Ranga Rao grew in business by his hard work, honesty and willingness to take responsibility. He was a self-made man of great human quality, he said.
Ranga Rao's another son R. Krishna proposed a vote of thanks. — KBG
