Mysore, Feb. 25 (RK&DM)- The Mysore Zilla Panchayat general meeting began at Abdul Nazeer Sab Auditorium, ZP Office premises, here this morning.

ZP President K.S. Dharmendra presided. Vice-President Nandini Chandrasekhar, CEO Dr. N. Manjula, officials of different departments are taking part in the meeting.

ZP member A.S. Channabasappa, who addressed the meeting, expressed gratitude to CEO Dr. Manjula for accelerating various development works including drinking water, road construction etc, in the district.

Dr. Manjula who felt happy on being commended sought the co-operation of members in the future also.

Another ZP member S.C. Basavaraju complained that the outsourced teachers of Kittur Rani Chennamma and Morarji Desai Schools in the district were not being paid PF Gratuity and other benefits by their contracted employer. The contractor who employed those teachers had failed to remit PF Gratuity to the tune of Rs. 8 lakh during the year 2007-08, Rs. 10 lakh during 2008-09, Rs. 13 lakh during 2009-10, totaling upto more than Rs. 20 lakh. Although the contractural norm demanded that teachers be paid their salaries through cheques, the contractor has failed to do so, he alleged.

The teachers of these schools are now complaining that they were not paid salary for the past 5 months and as such, a thoro-ugh enquiry should be ordered to probe it. This is a proper case for referring to the Lokayukta, he said.

Continuing, Basavaraju said that the same situation prevailed in BCM and Social Welfare Department hostels too, wherein security personnel were not paid proper salary and benefits by the contracted employer. Also, one security agency has been favoured continuously for the past four years, he alleged demanding a thorough probe into the issue.

Other ZP members Chowdegowda and Kunnegowda too came out in support of Basavaraju and demanded enquiry into these irregularities.

Dharmendra assured that all the concerned documents will be properly reviewed.
