The family members of Mahouts and Kavadis of the elephants taking part in Dasara, including 150 children, had a jolly day out today, visiting the Chamundi Hill, Zoo, Srirangapatna and the Brindavan Garden at KRS.
The tour was flagged off in front of Kote Anjaneya Swamy temple at the Palace premises. Three buses were provided by KSRTC for the day-long sightseeing, with 70 persons in each bus, including the teachers of make-shift school for the children at the Palace premises. They will be served chicken biryani, mutton curry for rice and other dishes for lunch at Srirangapatna, said an official of the Dasara Darshan Sub-Committee. Sub-Committee office-bearers Rajappa, N.R. Nagesh and others were present.
Doddegowda, one of the mahout family members hailing from Kakanakote in H.D. Kote, speaking to SOM, said he felt extremely delighted to go on this tour. Although he had earlier visited the Chamundi Hill this was the first time that he had visited the city during Dasara festivities. Also, this was the first such tour for most of the Mahout family members as they spent most of their lives in the forests, he remarked.
