Only Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation (CESC) should illuminate major circles and junctions keeping in mind the aesthetics, instead of giving it to private parties during this year’s Dasara festivities, ordered District Minister V.Sreenivasa Prasad here yesterday.
Speaking at the Dasara perparatory meeting at the office of the Deputy Commissioner in city, he directed the authorities to make a list of events to be organised in major places in Chamarajanagar town and districts and said that the these steps have been taken to involve tribals and include cultural events in Chamarajanagar districts to spread the fragrance of Dasara in neighbouring districts.
Flexes: Stating that flexes were an eyesore, he said that private companies were giving prominance to advertisements and ordered that no flexes be errected during the festivities and instructed the DC to get rid of such flexes.
Gold Cards: MLA Vasu said that Dasara Gold Cards should not be sold by force and be given only to those who seek it, to which Sreenivasa Prasad agreed saying that it was not right on the part of the administration to forcibly sell Gold Cards as the Government was spending crores of rupees for the festival.
Seating: Prasad also called for making separate seating arrangements around K.R. Circle or Garuda Mall for the convenience of overseas tourists.
Chamarajanagar District In-Charge and Co-operation Minister H.S.Mahadevaprasad urged for abolishing the practice of MUDA officials accumulating passes and issuing them at will which deprived common people the opportunity of witnessing the festivities and he was joined by MLC G.Madhusudan who called for strict terms for issuing passes to which Prasad reacted by saying that passes would not be distributed in haste.
