Mysore, May 20 (KMC) - Greenergy, a day-long Bicycle Rally aimed at creating awareness about green and eco-friendly technologies for reducing global carbon footprints and climate change is organised by the National Institute of Engineering's (NIE) Centre for Renewable Energy and Sustainable Technologies (CREST) as part of the World Environment Day celebrations at ONYX (NIE-E-CELL), NIE Campus on Manandavadi road in city, stated S. Shamsundar, Director, NIE-CREST in a press release issued here today. The rally will be flagged off from the NIE campus at 6.30 am on Monday, May 24.

Students of NIE and public will participate in the rally. They will cycle to rural areas on HD Kote road where NIE-CREST has installed green technologies like fuel efficient chulahs (stoves), biogas supported cooking stoves, rain-water harvesting technologies, solar energy systems and other eco-friendly technologies.

The rally is aimed at creating awareness about environment, renewable energy and sustai-nability and also about the concept of encouraging the use of bicycles.

The cycle rally, after passing through many locations in nearby villages, will culminate at Kaanana, an eco-friendly organic farm where the participants will interact and explore the possibilities of involving themselves on works related to environment and renewable energy technologies.
