P.G. Ramesh assumed charge as the Commissioner of Mysore City Corporation (MCC) here this morning. He replaces Dr. M.R. Ravi, who has been transferred to Shimoga.

Ramesh was accorded a warm reception at his office by Revenue Deputy Commissioner Thippesh, Superintending Engineer Krishna and Assistant Commissioners of all nine MCC Zonal offices. Mayor Rajeshwari Puttaswamy greeted him with a bouquet.

Profile: P.G. Ramesh, a senior officer of Karnataka Municipal Administration Service (KMAS), after serving as lecturer in various government colleges joined the Administrative Service as Grade I Officer in Puttur in 1996 and became the Commissioner of Mangalore City Corporation in 1997.

He held the positions of Mangalore Urban Development Authority Commissioner and also the same in Shimoga before taking over as a Head Quarter’s Assistant at the Department of Urban Development in Bangalore. He was the Municipal Commisioner in Shimoga.

Speaking to SOM, Ramesh said he would concentrate on completion of JNNURM works and prepare for its second phase. He added that the water woes too would be addressed on top priority.
