Mysore University Vice-Chancellor Prof. K.S. Rangappa was felicitated at a colourful programme held at the Open Air Theatre in Manasagangotri here yesterday.
Speaking on the occasion, Litterateur Hampa Nagarajaiah said that the post of Vice-Chancellor was not a cushy job treading on a bed of roses but instead was challenging one with a lot of obstacles. He added that the person should be able to perform without getting cowed by political pressure in a diplomatic way. Hailing Prof. Rangappa as a person in possession of the aforementioned qualities, Nagarajaiah expressed confidence in the success of Prof. Rangappa.
Prof. Rangappa and his wife Poornima Devi were felicitated on the occasion in the gracious presence of Suttur Seer Sri Shivaratri Deshikendra Swamiji, Adichunchanagiri Mutt Seer Sri Nirmalanandanatha Swamiji and Ramakrishna Ashram President Swami Muktidanandaji.
PES Educational Institutions President Dr. H.D. Chowdaiah released a felicitation volume Jnana Shibiradatta Payana.
All the dignitaries were brought to the dais with the accompaniment of folk troupes performing dollu kunita, veeragase and kamsale. The function was organised by Rangappa Felicitation Committee.
Mahajana President R. Vasudevamurthy presided. Prof. Dejagow, KSOU Vice-Chancellor Dr. M.G. Krishnan and Kuvempu Bhasa Bharathi Authority Chairman Dr. Pradhan Gurudath were present.
