The Mysore Travel Agents Association (MTAA) will observe World Tourism Day in city on Sept. 27 with the theme ‘Tourism and Water: Protecting Our Common Future.’

Announcing this at a press meet at Patrakarthara Bhavan yesterday, MTAA Founder President S. Shantinath said tourists arriving by trains, will be greeted under the aegis of the Association at the City Railway Station at 7.30 am on Sept. 27. The tourists will be presented bouquets and sweets as a gesture. South Western Railway Senior Commercial Manager Anil Kumar will inaugurate a tourist information kiosk setup by the Association at the Railway Station, on the occasion, he said.

Continuing, Shantinath said a stage programme to mark the celebration will take place in front of the Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple at the Northern Gate of the Palace at 10.30 am, in which will be inaugurated by DC C. Shikha.

Two best tourist vehicle drivers and two Traffic Policemen will be felicitated on the occasion. Following the stage programme, a procession, accompanied by tableaux, folk and cultural troupes will be taken out to the City Railway Station, passing through Clock Tower, Gandhi Square, Dufferin Clock Tower, JLB Road and D. Urs Road, he explained.

He also urged the State Government to extend entry tax exemption to tourist vehicles during Dasara, around the year on the lines of neighbouring States.

The Association office-bearers S.J. Ashok, A.C. Ravi and Past President C.A. Jayakumar were present at the meet.
