Mysore, Mar. 26 (SH)- Students of Ramakrishna Vidya Kendra in Ramakrishnanagar here took part in Saraswathi puja and Mathruvandana programme on the eve of the annual examinations of various classes on Monday, Mar. 22.

C. Manjunath, an employee of JK Tyres Factory, who undertook a walkathon from the city to Tirupathi and back on 16 occasions, was felicitated during the function. City's noted child specialist Dr. J.V. Narayan honoured the devotee.

S. Ananthu, Joint Commissioner of Excise, was the chief guest. Addressing the students and staff of the school, he said that there might be bad children in the world but there could never be bad mothers. He called upon the students to imbibe the noble qualities of motherhood and grow into ideal citizens.

M. Venkataram, retired officer of Food Corporation of India, taking part as chief guest, explained the various attributes of mother and her different identities such as Goddess of Learning Saraswathi, Motherland, River Ganga, Goddess of Wealth as conceived in India's richly cultural society.

The scene of students performing puja to their mothers after washing their feet was moving and deeply sentimental.

Head Master of the Vidya Kendra R.S. Raghavendrachar welcomed. Secretary M. Doreraj felicitated the chief guests. Teachers of the school and members of Sri Ramakrishna Seva Sangha were present.
