The Managing Committee of Mysore Race Club Limited (MRC) felicitated three Ministers representing Mysore, Mandya and Chamarajanagar districts in the Karnataka Government at a get-together held at MRC Club House premises in city last evening.
The three Ministers who were felicitated were Revenue and Mysore District In-Charge Minister V. Sreenivas Prasad, Housing Minister M.H.Ambarish and Co-operation Minister H.S. Mahadevaprasad.
Replying to the felicitation, Sreenivas Prasad said that everyone needs to maintain his integrity and added that though he was reluctant to enter politics at early stages, he entered politics with the intention of serving citizens.
He opined that development could be achieved only when each and every person displayed concern for social security.
Co-operation Minister H.S. Mahadevaprasad, assuring all help to the Race Club in its endeavours, said that becoming a member of the prestigious club was as tough as winning an election and recalled that he could become a member of the club only on his second attempt.
Housing Minister Ambarish, who also owns race horses, said that racing should be treated as a sport and not as gambling.
He also said that he had named one of his horses as 'My Ambition' after both his ambitions of owning a horse and watching the finals of Wimbledon were fulfilled. Stating that Mysore was a complete city full of specialities, Ambarish said that he was proud to be identified as a Mysorean.
MRC Committee Member G.K. Balakrishna, who compered, disclosed that Ambarish was the only Minister who had declared that he owns race horses in the declaration given to the Election Commission while filing nominations for Assembly polls.
Suma Prakash rendered invocation. Steward Dr. D. Satyanarayan proposed a vote of thanks.
