Nimish Dwarakanath, a final year student of B.Sc. at Yuvaraja College in city, has bagged the 11th rank in the All India level IIT Joint Admission Test (JAM) held recently for admission to M.Sc. Physics.

Son of Dwarakanath and S. Renuka, residents of Vijayanagar, Bangalore and grandson of Prema, who resides in J.P. Nagar, Mysore, Nimish has got a chance to study M.Sc. in IIT-Kanpur by scoring 64 marks out of 100.

About 7,492 students had appeared for the JAM which was held for 200 seats in Physics at all IITs in the country and IISc., Bangalore. The test was held in 200 centres across the country on Feb. 10. More than 40 students had appeared for the test from Mysore.

Revealing his future plans to Star of Mysore, Nimish happily said he was determined to study at IIT-Kanpur and had taken up hard studies to achieve that goal. When asked about his reasons for choosing IIT-Kanpur, Nimish said the institution has good teaching faculty and a conducive environment for studies. As good research is going on at the institution, it would help in collecting information and student participation.

IIT-Kanpur also has collaborations with many foreign Universities which would help in keeping up-to-date on latest researches, he added.
