Mysore, May 28 (MTY& DM)- The National Book Trust (NBT), an autonomous body under the department of Secondary and Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resources Development, Government of India, has organised a book fair termed in Mysore Book Fair in the city from tomorrow (May 29).
Announcing this at a press meet at Vartha Bhavan on Dhanwantri Road in the city this morning, the NBT Deputy Director Vijaypal said the NBT is organising the Mysore book fair in collaboration with Kannada Book Authority, Bangalore and Karnataka Exhibition Authority, Mysore, in the Dasara Exhibition premises at Doddakere Maidan from May 29 to June 6.
A platform covering an area of 10,000 sq.ft. has been laid out for the book fair, which houses 80 book stalls. More than 1.5 lakh books will be exhibited and sold during the fair, in which 55 reputed publishers are taking part. Books published in almost all Indian languages will be exhibited and sold in the fair and there will be a 10 per cent discount on the sale of books.
The fair will be open from 2 pm to 9 pm on all days of the fair.
The book fair will be launched by Mysore University Vice-Chancellor Prof. V.G. Talwar at 11 am tomorrow. Rajesh Sachdeva, Director, CIIL, Mysore, will preside, he explained.
As a nodal body for the promotion of books both in India and abroad, the NBT has organised book fairs and exhibitions throughout the country at various levels. The NBT has so far organised 19 world book fairs, 36 national book fairs, nearly 200 regional book fairs and children book fairs, he added.
