The Auto Nagar Mysore City Motor Vehicles Mechanics Association (MCMA) has sought two acre land for the Auto Servicing Cluster in city.
The Central and State Governments have come forward to grant Rs. 15 crore for the cluster for which necessary documents have been submitted.
In a letter to Chief Minister Siddharamaiah, the MCMA has stated that the previous Government had issued an order to Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) for a Detailed Project Report (DPR) and the MUDA had allotted 14 acres in Survey numbers 64 and 65, also in Survey numbers 143/2, 143/3 and 144. Six acre twenty gunta land on Survey number 112 in Bandipalya has also been allotted for which foundation stone was laid.
Auto Nagars have been proposed at four places in the city to decongest the city and reduce pollution and the project is expected to rid the city of a number of automobile workshops (garages) which have even encroached upon roads and footpaths.
Vehicle spare part shops, garages for repairs of automobiles, tyre shops, wheel alignments, tinkering and painting works, automobile electrical work and other overhaul works will be set up at the autonagars.
Vehicles needed for towing vehicles for repair from any spot in the city will be available there. Works relating to converting old vehicles into scrap can also be taken up there. Works such as seating and upholstery too will be carried out. Apart from these, a cafeteria, lodging and toilet facilities too will be made available at the Auto Nagars.
The MCMA has requested the Chief Minister to issue directions to the authorities in this regard and has also requested the CM to give them an opportunity to discuss the issue along with the concerned Minister and officials.
