Mysore Librarians and Information Scientists Association (MyLISA) will be conducting orientation classes for NET and SLET aspirants in Library and Information Science subject.
The inauguration of ‘MyLISA OPENS’ orientation programme for students was held at SBRR Mahajana First Grade College in Jayalakshmipuram this morning. Inaugurating the programme, Dr. D. Shrijay Devaraj Urs, Registrar (Evaluation), University of Mysore, stressed for the need of developing additional skills apart from passing the qualifying examinations such as the NET and SLET.
He added that it was essential for developing additional skills to survive in the competitive world. Dr. Urs said that the University of Mysore had received 1.8 lakh applications from the SLET aspirants this year.
Referring to the University Library, Dr. Urs said that the library and information had been involved in various activities and had been including new programmes to the department. He also said that he wanted the University of Mysore Library to be number one in the country.
The coaching classes will be held every weekend on Saturday and Sunday at the SBRR Mahajana First Grade premises. MyLISA will also conduct the coaching classes on general holidays if the candidates are interested, said MyLISA Secretary Dr. Harinarayana.
Mahajana Education Society President R. Vasudeva Murthy, Secretary Naga Srinivas, SBRR Mahajana First Grade College Principal Prof. K.V. Prabhakara, MyLISA President S. Nagaraja and University of Mysore Librarian Ramasheshu were present on the occasion.
