“A discussion will be held with the Vice-Chancellor to establish Sir M. Visvesvaraya Study Centre at Mysore University,” announced MP H. Vishwanath.
He was speaking at a programme organised by Institution of Engineers (IE), Mysore Centre, at its premises on JLB Road here yesterday to mark 46th Engineers Day and also to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sir MV.
“The Union Government has given a grant of Rs. 100 crore in 2009 to develop Mysore University. The proposal to establish Sir MV Study Centre was also included in the development plan but has not materialised yet. It will also be urged to install the busts of Sir MV and Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar at the premises of Crawford Hall”, assured Vishwanath opining that the country had no dearth of knowledge and money but the utilisation was improper.
Speaking on the occasion, IE Past Chairman and ACICM convenor M. Lakshmana appealed to the government to consider experts in the engineering sector for Rajyotsava awards.
Achievers in Engineering field P.V. Gopinath, N. Vijayaraghavan, J.N. Subramanya, Dr. N. Suresh, G.P. Chandrasekhar, Rajagopal, H.C. Ravindran, K.P. Shivakumar, Syed Amanulla, M.Suresh, Kalpana and Shanmugappa were felicitated on the occasion.
