Mysore, June 3 (SH)- The modernised sub-urban bus stand on Bangalore-Nilgiris Road here is likely to be opened in July. "The work on modernising the bus stand has almost been completed," M.N. Srinivas, Divisional Controller, KSRTC, disclosed to media persons.
The official explained that 44 new bus bays had been constructed at the bus stand, taking care to provide various amenities to the commuters. The problems of inadequate parking facilities, inadequate number of bus bays and congested surroundings had been addressed in the new terminus, he explained.
A food court, cyber cafe, post office, rest-rooms and parking facility for 200 cars and 800 two-wheelers in the basement are some of the facilities being provided at the new terminus, he added. Nearly 2,000 buses were plying to various destinations daily from the city and an equal number of buses were arriving from other parts of Karnataka and other States, he said.
The modernised sub-urban bus stand is equipped with an elevator for the convenience of commuters, for the first time in the State to provide such a facility at a bus stand. Senior citizens, physically handicapped persons and children will benefit in particular from the facility of elevator connecting the basement to the first floor, the official said.
