MLA Tanveer Sait has asked the MCC Commissioner to take necessary steps to solve the drinking water scarcity problem in city at the earliest.

In a letter written to the MCC Commissioner P.G. Ramesh, the MLA alleged that owing to the apathy of officials concerned, the problem of water scarcity had assumed gigantic proportions, causing a lot of inconvenience to the citizens.

“The problem has become severe after the project of revamping water supply system in city was handed over to JUSCO, which, contrary to its claims of giving 24x7 water, is not even able to supply water on alternative days,” Tanveer Sait said and demanded that the contract with JUSCO be cancelled im- mediately.

The MLA demanded that steps be initiated to supply water to the city from KRS, Hemavathy and Kabini reservoirs, apart from repairing the borewells that have gone defunct and to take into confidence the owners of private borewells to share their water with other residents.

Sait also stressed on the need for spreading awareness among the residents to use water judiciously.
