Here is an opportunity for Mysoreans to taste various types of wine and buy the one that suits them.

The three-day Wine Mela organised by the Karnataka Wine Board was inaugurated by MLA Tanveer Sait at the premises of the Office of the Assistant Director of Horticulture on Bangalore-Nilgiri Road (opp. Kalyan Jewellers) here yesterday.

Later, Sait visited various stalls in the mela and obtained information about the products. Mayor N.M. Rajeshwari, Deputy Mayor V. Shailendra, Horticulture Deputy Director H.M. Nagaraj, Wine Board Managing Director Dr. B. Krishna and others were present.

There was a good response for the Wine Mela being organised for the first time in city with a good number of women too participating and tasting the wine.

Over 40 brands of wine from 12 companies are exhibited at the mela.

A lecture is also arranged there explaining the way in which wine should be consumed and also highlighting the health benefits of wine. A light music has been arranged to soothe the mind while relishing the wine.

A good demand was seen for Red Wine especially the sweetless variety with some of the customers purchasing 2 to 3 bottles of wine.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Krishna said that controlled consumption of wine was useful to improve blood circulation and cure insomnia.

The wine Mela concludes tomorrow.
