Mysore, Aug. 1 (KCU)-Urban Development and District in-Charge Minister S. Suresh Kumar has suggested that officials concerned should formulate ways and means to set up a Chamundi Hill Development Authority (CHDA) after obtaining relevant information about the necessity to form the Authority.

Chairing the meet to discuss the formation of CHDA here yesterday, Suresh Kumar asked the officers to collect pertinent information before setting up the Authority.

Chamundeshwari Temple Executive Officer Shivalingegowda said the Hill was under the Gram Panchayat jurisdiction, adding, "This was coming in the way of taking up developmental works. The formation of CHDA would help in getting sanctions for such works. Similar bodies had been set up at Koodalasangama, Basava Kalyan and Hampi enabling better infrastructure developmental works to be taken up."

Deputy Commissioner Harsha Gupta opined that CHDA should have wider powers instead of focusing on issues like collecting parking fees.

Corporation Commissioner K.S. Raikar pointed out that the proposal was made to form an Authority to cover several pilgrim centres like Chamundi Hill, Talakad, Melkote and other places which seemed more useful. He added that the process of merging a few Gram Panchayats including the Chamundi Hill was on and would be completed after the census. Summing up, Suresh Kumar observed that proposal documents be prepared to necessitate the formation of CHDA and then a meeting could be convened.

Police Commissioner Sunil Agarwal, Additional Dy. Commissioner Dr. C.G. Betsurmath, Zilla Panchayat CEO Dr. N. Ma-njula and others were present.
