Urban Development Minister Vinay Kumar Sorake, observing that the schemes and projects launched by MCC had witnessed slow progress over the past 3 months, has directed the officials to expedite the projects and to achieve more progress in the implementation of 22.75 percent scheme for SC/STs and 3 percent scheme for physically challenged. The Minister cautioned the officials that their apathetic attitude would not be tolerated while asking them to bring about change in the coming months. The Minister also directed the DC to bring about co-ordination amongst the officials of MCC, MUDA and other concerned departments, for providing basic amenities such as water, housing and sanitation to the people.

This apart, Sorake instructed officials to take appropriate measures for increasing MCC revenue earnings, arresting the spread of epidemics, speedy completion of JNNURM Projects, scientific waste manage- ment system, slum dwellers housing and execution of all pending works under the 13th Finance plan.

During the course of the meeting, the Minister questioned the officials about the lack of co-ordination between JUSCO and Vani Vilas Water Works (VVWW), when VVWW Executive Engineer Subbegowda began to explain about the entire project, which prompted an angry reaction from the Minister.

The Minister while announcing that the Centre was ready to release Rs. 2000 crore grant for making the State slum-free, asked the officials to immediately allow the beneficiaries to occupy the ready houses.
