Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy has assured MLC Sandesh Nagaraj that non-stop bus services would be introduced between Mysore and KRS to boost the tourism sector.
Replying to a query posed by Sandesh Nagaraj during the Council Session yesterday, Reddy said that action would be initiated against private buses operating illegally between Mysore, Chamarajanagar and KRS. The Minister further added that 62 cases had been booked against private buses operating illegally between Mysore and Chamarajanagar and 15 cases had been booked and a fine of Rs. 2,58,605 against contract carriers. Ramalinga Reddy also mentioned that sufficient buses were being operated between Mysore, Chamarajanagar and Gundlupet and added that measures would be taken to operate more buses to rural areas. Sandesh Nagaraj said that he had posed a similar question during the previous session and the then Transport Minister had assured to initiate action against illegal plying of buses but till now no action had been initiated.
He also urged the State Government to provide more buses to Chamarajanagar depot.
MLC M.C. Nanaiah, who supported Sandesh Nagaraj, said that State Government was incurring huge losses through private operators and demanded stringent measures to curb the private operators.
At this point of time, Legislative Council Chairman D.H. Shankaramurthy intervened and said that a discussion on transport department would be taken in the coming days and asked the members to issue a notice in this regard.
