Music lovers of the city had a different kind of treat last evening – live Military Band performed in front of the Mysore Palace.

The programme, held as part of Army Mela, will be held this evening too at the same venue, at 7 pm. Apart from the music, the soldiers marching in tandem and flawless coordination was appreciated by the audience. A total of 75 men from the Indian Armed Forces played lilting patriotic tunes such as Jai Bharti, Hum sab bharatiya hain, Sarfaroshi ki tamanna, Kadam kadam badhaye ja and Vande Mataram… much to the spectators’ delight. They also played some western numbers like By the river of Babylon, London Kings, etc.

The Solo Joker was another attraction of the show, who had the audience in peals of laughter with his witty comments and antics. The Parachute Regiment’s band, constituted in 1955, which was the final team to perform, has acclaimed international fame and in 2001, was rewarded with the Commandant Card by the then President K.R. Narayanan.
