In adherence to amendment 14, 1977 to Section 421 of Karnataka Municipal Corporations Act, 1976, the Karnataka Government has reduced the number of Zonal offices coming under the jurisdiction of Mysore City Corporation (MCC) from nine to seven and the areas of jurisdiction of these offices would be finalised after necessary re-organisation.

A draft proposal to this effect was presented at a meeting held at the MCC office yesterday which was chaired by MCC Deputy Commissioner (administration) C. Raju, MCC Superintending Engineer S. Krishna, Executive Engineer Krishna Boyi and Zone- 6 Assistant Commissioner E. Thimmappa.

Yesterday’s meeting being the fourth on the issue, a final decision would be taken at the fifth meeting to be held in the presence of Deputy Commissioner, MCC Commissioner and senior officials.

Here is a Zone-wise list (with population) of various MCC Wards coming under the jurisdiction of proposed seven Zonal offices.

Zone 1: MCC Zone-1 Office located at Akkana Balaga premises on Thyagaraja Road will offer civic services to citizens in the following MCC Wards. Ward 1- Agrahara (9266), Ward 2- Sunnadakeri (12765), Ward 3- Lakshmipuram (12814), Ward 4- Ramachandra Agrahara (8753),Ward 5- Gunduraonagar (14661), Ward 6- Chamundipuram (12586), Ward 10- Vidyaranyapuram (15104) and Ward 36- Subbarayanakere (9546).

Zone 2: The Office located near Jayanagar Railway Gate will provide services to residents of following MCC Wards: Ward- 7- Krishnamurthipuram (11299), Ward 8- Jayanagar (7889), Ward 9- Asokapuram (14035), Ward 11- Vishweshwara Nagar (9884), Ward 12- J.P. Nagar (22982), Ward 13- Srirampura Second stage (18355), Ward 14- Aravinda Nagar (10417), Ward 15- Vivekanandanagar (9557), Ward 16- Ramakrishnanagar (18451) and Ward 17-Kuvempunagar KHB (12654).

Zone 3: The Office located at Kuvempunagar and presently functioning near Akhashavani Circle will offer services to residents of following Wards: Ward 18- Kuvempunagar South (13498), Ward 19- Kannegowdana Koppal (10614), Ward 20- Saraswathipuram (9196), Ward 21- Kuvempunagar North (8113), Ward 22- Sharadadevinagar (17974), Ward 23- Jayalakshmipuram (10652), Ward 24- Vijayanagar (27702), Ward 33- Paduvarahalli (9302) and Ward 35- Devaraja Mohalla (8064).

Zone 4: The Office located near Akashavani Circle will offer service to residents of the following Wards: Ward 25- Manche- gowdanaKoppal (21756), Ward 26- Hebbal, Lakshmikanth Nagar (15437), Ward 27- Hebbal, Lokanayakanagar (24617), Ward 28- Kumbarakoppal (18048), Ward 29- Metagalli (17558), Ward 30- Brindhavan Extension (8393), Ward 31- Gokulam (10780), Ward 32- Ontikoppal (13585) and Ward 34- Medhar Block (10101).

Zone 5: The Office located near APMC Circle will offer civic services to the following Wards: Ward 37- Lashkar Mohalla (11608), Ward-38- Mandi Mohalla (10038), Ward 39- Kailasapuram (10006), Ward 40- Meena Bazar (9489), Ward 41- Veeranagere (9726), Ward 42- B.B. Keri (13767), Ward 43- Tilak Nagar (10190), Ward 44- Bannimantap (9164), Ward 45- Bannimantap HUDCO (13550) and Ward 64- Nazarbad (8903).

Zone 6: The Office located near FTS Circle will provide civic services to following Wards: Ward 46- Kesare (16712), Ward 47- Subhashnagar (10670), Ward 48- Rajendranagar (14540), Ward 49- N.R. Mohalla (15137), Ward 50- Gandhi Nagar (9149), Ward 51- Sathyanagar (14290), Ward 52- Udayagiri (15346), Ward 53- Rajivnagar (16774) and Ward 54- Shanthinagar (31423).

Zone 7: The Office located in Gayathripuram will offer services to the following Wards: Ward 55- Kalyanagiri (15846), Ward 56- Yaraganahalli (24411), Ward 57- Vidyanagar (13618), Ward 58- Ragavendranagar (6407), Ward 59- Gowrishankar- nagar (27029), Ward 60- K.N. Pura (12337), Ward 61- Kyatha-maranahalli (7865), Ward 62- Gayathripuram (15625), Ward 63- Siddarthanagar (12515) and Ward 65- Ittige-gudu (16733).
