The Mysore City Corporation (MCC) presented a Rs. 5.85 crore surplus bydget for the year 2013-14.
Presenting the budget at the MCC Council Hall here this morning, Chairman of Finance and Tax Standing Committee B.L.Bhyrappa said, “The opening balance is Rs. 64.06 crore and anticipated revenue is Rs. 417.45 crore. With payments at Rs. 475.66 crore, the surplus budget will be Rs. 5.85 crore.”
Elaborating on the revenue expected, Bhyrappa said that the major chunk would be from property tax anticipated to fetch Rs. 93.2 crore followed by Town Planning, Water cess, rents from MCC buildings, trade licence and advance tax.
Bhyrappa said that the expenses would cover upgradation of UGD system, construction/upgradation of swimming pools, renovation of parks, cemetries and Anganwadi centres not to exclude lakes and dhobi ghats.
Mayor M.C.Rajeshwari Puttaswamy, Deputy Mayor Mahadevappa, MCC Commissioner Dr. M.R.Ravi and others were present.
