With less than a day left for the Mysore City Corporation (MCC) elections, the District Administration today conducted mustering process for all the 65 Wards at three different locations in city. The Polling Officials assembled at Ursu Boarding School, Baden Powell School and Maharani’s Arts and Science College where the mustering process was held.

The process began at 7 am during which the Polling Officers were explained about their duties during the elections tomorrow. The Polling Officers, before procuring the EVMs, had to fill a form which had details about their names, polling booth numbers and Ward numbers.

After returning the form to the Election Officer, the EVMs were handed over to Polling Officers. They were also educated about conducting a mock polling 2 or 3 times at 6.30 am tomorrow at their respective polling stations to check for any faults with the EVMs. Only after they take a certificate from the Election Officer in this regard, will they conduct the election process.

They were also explained about the security aspects and what to do in case of emergency.

Along with the polling officials, the Police personnel deputed to election duty had also assembled at the mustering centres in city. They will accompany their respective polling officials to the polling stations.

The District Administration has arranged for KSRTC buses, Tempos and other vehicles to transport polling officials and Police personnel to their respective polling stations.

The mustering process was conducted at: 1. Ursu Boarding School – Ward 1 to Ward 19 and Ward 21; 2. Baden Powell School – Ward 20 and from Ward 22 to 40; 3. Maharani’s Arts and Science College – Ward 41 to Ward 65.

The election will be held from 7 am to 5 pm to all the 65 wards of MCC. DC Dr. Ramegowda, Additional Deputy Commissioner Naganayak and other election officials visited all the three mustering centres today.

Confusion: The mustering centre at Ursu Boarding School witnessed confusion among the election officials and Police. The election officers were found struggling to make a group of the polling officers for each ward while the Police were also in a state of confusion as they did not know where to report — whether at Maharani’s Arts and Science College or Ursu Boarding School. While some of the officials had assembled at Maharani Arts, announcements were being made in loudspeakers for the same officials at Ursu Boarding School.

Deployment of Police: The District Administration has deployed 1 PC and 1 Home Guard at Hyper Sensitive Booths, 1 Head Constable at Sensitive Booths and 1 Constable at normal booths. This apart, Women Police have also been deployed at all polling stations where the number of women voters are more. This apart, 65 mobile squads have also been deployed to keep a vigil on the polling stations.
