Mysore, May 8 (KK&DM)- Mayor Sandesh Swamy visited 'Khasa Brindavana' the cemetery of Mysore Maharajas located on Mysore-Nanjangud road in the city this morning.
The Mayor was accompanied by Corporation Commissioner K.S. Raikar, Superintending Engineers Mahesh and Suresh Babu, Corporators Mallesh and Vidya Urs and others officials.
Briefing media persons after his inspection of the cemetery Mayor Sandesh Swamy said the cemetery, which was the exclusive burial ground of the Mysore Maharajas, is now in a bad shape with no maintenance.
The cemetery meant for Maharajas is considered as a heritage spot and the City Corporation would take measures for portraying its past history. Efforts will be made to develop the cemetery on the model of Gol Gumbaz in Bijapur. Also all appropriate measures will be taken to make the spot as one of the prominent tourist destinations of city. Corporation and MUDA Commissioners have already held one round of talks with the Mysore royal family in this regard and the next round of talks will soon be held, he explained adding that the Corporation will take necessary steps for maintenance and development of the cemetery.
