Mysore, June 9 (KK&KMC)- Mayor Sandesh Swamy has directed the MCC officials to prevent the flow of sewage water into Kukkarahalli Lake.

The order was issued after inspecting the Lake area during the Mayor's daily early morning padayatra in Saraswathipuram here yesterday.

He also took an exception to the wastes disposed from buildings around the Saraswathipuram swimming pool area and in the surrounding vacant spaces in Saraswathipuram that are filled with an over-growth of weeds harbouring rodents, reptiles and disease-causing mosquitoes.

Sandesh Swamy also found that the rain-water drains leading to the Kukkarahalli Lake were blocked with construction materials like sand, jelly stones and bricks, thus preventing water flow. He directed the MCC officials accompanying him to get the drains cleared immediately and allow free flow of rain water into the Lake. He further directed the mcc officials to write to the University officials to maintain cleanliness around the swimming pool area and secure the University land by erecting compound wall.

The Mayor inspected the residential areas and road-side walkways to ensure that garbage was cleared on regular basis. Zonal Asst. Commissioner Govindarajan, Corporator Lingappa, MCC Health officer Dr. Nagaraj and others were present.
