The 65th Sarvodaya Day, also known as Martyrs' Day, was observed in city today to mark the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, who was assassinated on this day in 1948.
The Martyrs' Day programme was held at Gandhi Bhavan in Manasagangotri this morning under the joint auspices of Mysore University, Gandhi Bhavan and Basudeva Somani First Grade College, Kuvempunagar.
Prof. Karimuddin, retired Kannada Professor, offered floral tributes to the bust of Gandhiji at Gandhi Bhavan premises.
Mysore University Registrar Prof. P.S. Nayak, Gandhi Bhavan Hon. Director Dr. Sugeeta Suvarna, Basudeva Principal Prof. S.R. Ramesh and others were present.
At DC office: Floral tributes were paid to the portrait of Mahatma Gandhi by Assistant Commissioner Basavaraj, Tahasildar Keshavprasad, Administrative Officer Prakash Gejji, Muzrai Tahasildar Yathiraj and all Departmental Heads.
The officers and staff observed a minute's silence followed by a bhajan programme by students of Vijaya Vittala School.
