Sri Ganapati Sachchidananda Ashram on Ooty Road will be celebrating Maha Shivaratri for three days from tomorrow with special pujas to the Lord and cultural programmes at the Universal Prayer Hall and Poundarika Rangashala.

On Mar. 9, the celebrations will begin with Srichakra Archana and Maha Ganapathi Homa at 8 am, followed by Girija Kalyanam at 10 am.

Sri Venkatamakhi Memorial and Tyagaraja Aradhana will be held at 6.30 pm in which singers will render a mass recital of Tyagaraja Pancha Ratna compositions.

The auspicious Shivaratri Day (Mar. 10) will begin with Suprabhatam, Srichakra Archana and Rudra Homa at 7 am which will conclude at 11 am. There will be Gangotsava, Rudrabhisheka to Sachchidananda Shivalinga at 6 pm. The cultural programmes will begin at 7 pm — Karnatak Mandolin duet by U.P. Raju and Nagamani, Karnatak vocal concert by Shertalay Dr. Renganatha Sarma at 10 pm, Chanting of Rudra Prashna Veda mantras at 11.45 pm.

The rituals will go on till the next morning with Shiva Nama Sankeerthana and discourse by Sri Ganapati Sachchidananda Swamiji at 2 am on Mar.11, followed by Maha Mangalarati and Ashtavadhana Seva at 6 am. Prasada too will be distributed to the devotees after the puja.

K.V. Satyanarayana and troupe from Andhra Pradesh will present a Kuchipudi dance ballet titled ‘Nrutyakshari’ at 7 pm.

Sri Amruteshwara Temple: As part of Shivaratri, there will be Mrutyunjaya Homa, Shanthi Homa, Shanipradosha Puja on Mar. 9; Panchamruta Purassara Rudrabhisheka, Rashipuja, Ranga Puja, Kailasa Shikara Deeparadhane and 108 Parthiva Linga Puja on Mar. 10; Navagraha Shanthi, Shani Shanthi and Rudra Homa pujas on Mar. 11. Sri Chandramoulishwara Swamy Temple, V.V. Mohalla: The temple will be holding special pujas as part of Maha Shivaratri Festival from 6 am to 1.30 pm on Mar. 10 and again from 4 pm till the next day (Mar.11) at 7 am.

Abhishekas to the Lord will be done at 8.30 am, 6 pm, 9.30 pm on Mar. 10 and 3.15 am on Mar. 13. A 24-hour music concert will be presented on the occasion. Raja Beedi Utsava will be held on Mar. 11 at 8.30 am.

Mata Amritanandamayi Math: As part of Shivaratri, special pujas and homas will be held on Mar. 10 at the Ashram premises including Shivashakthi puja, bhajans, Maha Ganapathy Homa etc. from 5.30 am onwards.
