Mysore, July 28 (SH&KK)- In a humanitarian act, a new scheme aimed at providing lodging facilities for the shelterless and uncared for was considered in a meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner Harsha Gupta here on Tuesday.
The Task Force for implementing the scheme will be headed by the DC himself with the Mayor as Co-Chairman. The 11-member group will have the MCC Commissioner as Secretary and includes City Police Commissioner and SP.
The outlines of the nature of the facility and how to implement the same based on a survey were discussed in the meeting. The DC has constituted 15 survey teams which will conduct survey over seven days from 11 pm to 5 am, generate data and information about the shelterless section of the city due to various factors such as those displaced due to natural calamities, those who left their homes following domestic discord, refugees etc. Five voluntary organisations are taking part in the survey.
The study is to be followed by preparation of a DPR and submission to the government. Based on the findings of the survey, the government will provide the facility to the needy. The report is required to be submitted to the government before Aug. 15.
Mayor Sandesh Swamy, Additional DC Dr. C.G. Betsurmath, Asst. Commissioner Bharathi, Council Secretary Gayathri, Statistical Officer Nanjundaswamy and others took part.
