A team of City Police led by Lashkar Inspector Prabhakar Rao Shinde has cracked the Dec. 17 daylight murder of a 70-year-old man by arresting five persons, said to be natives of Tamil Nadu.

Two of the five nabbed have been identified as Parandhaman and Ramesh. It may be recalled that the victim Abdul Salam Khan, a chicken merchant by profession, was found murdered at his 3rd Cross, K.T. Street residence. The miscreants had tied both the hands and legs of his daughter-in-law Reshma Banu before decamping with jewellery and cash worth lakhs of rupees.

The Police, who found a piece of blood-soaked Tamil newspaper, arrested the five with the help of Tamil Nadu Police who tracked the culprits through their mobile calls.

On interrogation, it is reported that the details of weapons and vehicle used, cash and jewellery robbed came to light. As one of the nabbed is a relative of Abdul Salam Khan, the Police are looking at enmity as a possible motive for the murder.

The arrested were yesterday produced before a Magistrate who remanded them to Police custody.
